Cambodia Holds Training to Enhance Mental Health Support Services, Deepening Understanding of Psychological Trauma

The Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans, and Youth Rehabilitation of Cambodia inaugurated a training program on July 29, 2026, aimed at strengthening the capacity of mental health support services. The training focuses on enhancing understanding of psychological trauma. The session was held for officials from the Center for Care and Rehabilitation of Persons with Mental Disabilities, the National Center for Combating Drug Addiction and Rehabilitation, and the Center for Youth Rehabilitation, taking place at the Center for Care and Rehabilitation of Persons with Mental Disabilities in Kandal Stung. Deputy Secretary of State Lay Prohsta Hanuram highlighted that the program is designed to bolster the skills of frontline workers assisting individuals affected by psychological trauma. It aims to increase their comprehension of trauma's impact and to improve their own mental well-being by educating them on self-care in mental health provision. Furthermore, the training intends to reinforce their understanding of their own boundaries as caregivers and foster a positive outlook for effectively supporting victims and vulnerable populations. The refresher course was attended by 33 participants, including Deputy Directors General of Social Services and Rehabilitation, the Head of the Victim Protection Department, and directors of various centers.
