National Assembly President Urges Navy to Focus on Marine Economy and Defense Strategy

National Assembly (NA) President Tran Thanh Man has urged naval officers and personnel to thoroughly grasp and fully implement the Party’s guidelines and the State’s policies and laws regarding military and national defense affairs. He specifically emphasized a focus on the "Strategy for Protecting the Fatherland in the New Situation" and the "Strategy for Sustainable Development of Vietnam’s Marine Economy to 2030, with a Vision to 2045." This directive reflects Vietnam's dual challenges of developing its vast marine resources while safeguarding its territorial waters. The Communist Party of Vietnam prioritizes balancing national security with economic development, with the navy playing a crucial role on the front lines. In recent years, Vietnam has been wary of China's maritime assertiveness in the South China Sea, while simultaneously seeking to accelerate economic growth through marine economic development. The President's instruction underscores the critical importance of the navy's role in Vietnam's national strategy. While maintaining its one-party system, Vietnam has achieved remarkable economic growth through the introduction of a market economy. Ensuring a stable security environment, particularly in maritime affairs, is essential for the sustainability of this growth. Furthermore, the support shown by the Vietnamese diaspora for the homeland's seas and islands indicates a broader national concern.
