Thailand Shooting: 8 Fatalities All Sustained Gunshot Wounds, Indicating Close-Range Fire

Autopsy results for the eight victims of a recent shooting incident in Thailand have revealed that all sustained gunshot wounds. According to the initial findings from the Institute of Forensic Medicine, Police General Hospital, all eight bodies, which have all been sent to the institute, showed signs of being shot. The deceased include five bodies found within the school, two bodies found at the home of the 14-year-old perpetrator, and the perpetrator himself, who died at Bang Kruai Hospital. The autopsy determined that all eight victims were hit by bullets, with injuries ranging from one to a maximum of four shots. Six of the victims sustained one gunshot wound each, while the other two had three and four wounds respectively. The nature of the wounds for most victims were in vital areas such as the head and chest, which are positions that can cause death. Some victims also had wounds on their arms. Regarding the 14-year-old perpetrator, one gunshot wound was found in his right head, which had penetrated through. The bullet did not remain in his body. Gunpowder residue was found around the wound, indicating that the muzzle of the firearm was very close to the skin at the time of firing. Concerning the question of whether the boy was killed in a "visaman" (self-defense shooting by police), Pol. Maj. Gen. Wirun stated that the autopsy could only confirm that the wounds were from a firearm and that the nature of the wounds was consistent with the weapon used. The conclusion on whether it was a visaman incident must be made by investigators as they collect evidence. Most of the bullets found in the victims' bodies had penetrated, with only one bullet found lodged inside the body. Tests for substances within the perpetrator's body are currently underway. The autopsy procedures have been completed, and the bodies are being gradually handed over to relatives who have completed the necessary documentation. It is expected that if relatives come to complete the procedures today, all bodies will be released for religious ceremonies.
