Mahidol Kanchanaburi Partners with South Korean University to Develop New Era Teachers

Mahidol University, Kanchanaburi Campus, located in Kanchanaburi Province in western Thailand, has initiated an innovative program in collaboration with a South Korean university to cultivate next-generation educators. This partnership specifically focuses on integrating "STEAM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics)" and "Active Learning" methodologies to foster greater environmental awareness within classrooms. STEAM education promotes integrated learning that transcends traditional subject boundaries, nurturing students' abilities to tackle real-world problem-solving. Active Learning encourages students to transition from passive recipients of knowledge to active participants, facilitating deeper understanding and retention. Through this collaboration, both universities aim to enhance teaching methodologies via curriculum development, teacher training, and joint research. Particular emphasis is expected to be placed on developing curricula that instill an awareness of pressing environmental issues such as climate change and sustainability from an early age. This initiative is anticipated to contribute not only to the improvement of educational standards within Thailand but also to the promotion of international educational cooperation. By equipping teachers with the latest pedagogical approaches and enabling students to develop the capacity for proactive thinking and action on environmental issues, the development of human resources for achieving a sustainable society is expected to accelerate.
