New Boarding Schools in Vietnam's Border Areas Aim to Enhance Educational Equity

On the morning of September 5th, in Dục Nông border commune, Quảng Ngãi province, the People's Committee of Quảng Ngãi province organized the opening ceremony for the new academic year 2026-2027 and the inauguration of 4 inter-level boarding schools in the land border communes of Dục Nông, Mô Rai, Rờ Kơi, and Sa Loong. Associate Professor, Dr. Đoàn Minh Huấn, Member of the Politburo and Director of the Hồ Chí Minh National Academy of Politics, attended the ceremony at the Dục Nông border commune and performed the ribbon-cutting and handover ritual to put the project into operation. Implementing the Central Committee's directives with urgency, responsibility, and high determination, Quảng Ngãi province mobilized the entire political system, armed forces, businesses, and the people to jointly build schools in the land border communes. Despite the tight schedule, remote location, challenging construction conditions, and unfavorable weather, after nearly 10 months of construction, the 4 inter-level boarding schools in the border communes of Dục Nông, Mô Rai, Rờ Kơi, and Sa Loong, with a total investment of over 872 billion VND, have been completed with modern and synchronized facilities, ready to welcome over 5,600 students for the new academic year 2026-2027. Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Hồ Văn Niên, Member of the Central Committee and Secretary of the Quảng Ngãi Provincial Party Committee, emphasized that investing in schools in border areas is a policy of special significance, demonstrating the deep concern of the Party and State for the ethnic minorities and the young generation in the nation's frontier. It is not only an investment in education today but also an investment in the future of these children, for the development of the border region, and for a strong "people's hearts" defense posture. "The new schools today not only bring better learning conditions but also convey the trust, affection, and expectations of the Party, the State, and the entire society for the young generation in the border areas. From these schools, the children will learn, grow, nurture their dreams and aspirations for advancement, and in the future, contribute to building their homeland and firmly defending the nation's borders," emphasized Comrade Hồ Văn Niên. A well-equipped school is a necessary condition, but the value of a school is made by the quality of education and the generations of students who graduate from it. In this sense, the leader of the Quảng Ngãi Provincial Party Committee urged all levels of Party committees, authorities, the education sector, and schools to effectively manage and utilize the facilities; build a safe, friendly, and disciplined educational environment; and provide the best care for the students' learning, living, and daily life, so that every day at school is truly a joyful day, and every classroom is a place to sow knowledge, nurture dreams, and foster belief. To ensure that schools become not only places of teaching and learning but also cultural beacons, community connectors, and contributors to strengthening the nation's frontier, Comrade Hồ Văn Niên requested teachers to continue to be dedicated, innovate their methods, teach both knowledge and character, and instill in the children love for their homeland and country, awareness of preserving national cultural identity, and aspirations for advancement. For the students, learning in new schools brings joy and pride. Therefore, they should be diligent, respectful, loving, and helpful to each other; respect their teachers, unite with their friends, strive to study and train well to become good children and excellent students, and later, good citizens who contribute greatly to their homeland, country, and society as a whole.
