Cambodian Health Minister Inspects Mental Health and Drug Abuse Services in Siem Reap
Cambodia's Minister of Health made an unannounced visit to the Teuk Vile Health Center in Siem Reap province to inspect mental health and drug abuse services. The minister praised staff performance and patient care, urging further improvements and collaboration with specialists.
On the afternoon of August 5, 2026, Professor Dr. Chheang Ra, Minister of Health, made an unannounced visit to the Teuk Vile Health Center in Siem Reap province to inspect the provision of mental health services and responses to drug abuse. During the inspection, the Minister observed that the health center staff were actively engaged, providing appropriate hospitality, speaking kindly, and demonstrating good ethics. Information gathering and explanations were also noted as being of high quality. The infrastructure was also found to be well-organized and suitable. Furthermore, the Minister of Health instructed that increased attention be given to mental health services and drug abuse interventions. He emphasized the need to continue such active engagement, including education on methods to reduce drug use. He also encouraged the medical team to pursue further training to collaborate with specialist doctors at the national hospital. On this occasion, the Minister of Health received feedback from citizens receiving health services at the center.
