Indonesia Awaits Presidential Decree for Strategic Mineral and Commodity Exchange Launch

Indonesia's Financial Services Authority (OJK) is currently awaiting a directive from President Prabowo Subianto regarding the determination of commodities to be included in the Strategic Mineral and Commodity Exchange (BMKS). OJK Chairperson Friderica Widyasari Dewi revealed that the list of strategic minerals and commodities will be stipulated in a Presidential Regulation (Perpres). "So, what minerals and strategic commodities will be included, we will convey according to what is in the Presidential Regulation," said Friderica when met at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday (1/9). The OJK will further regulate the BMKS after the Presidential Regulation is issued. This guidance will be released in the form of an OJK Regulation (POJK). Subsequently, the regulation will govern the process of transferring supervisory authority from the Commodity Futures Trading Regulatory Agency (Bappebti) to the OJK, as well as guidelines for the operational implementation of the BMKS. Currently, the OJK has already determined several individuals who will fill important positions within the BMKS, such as Deputy Commissioners and Heads of Departments. Sarjito has been appointed as the Head of Supervisory Executive for BMKS at the OJK. "We have prepared quite well in terms of preparation. The key positions in the BMKS work unit have been filled. Deputy Commissioners have been filled, Heads of Departments have been filled, and the functions below them have also been filled.
