The Steering Council for Federal Democracy (SCEF) met with officials from the New Mon State Party (Anti-Military Dictatorship) (NMSP-AD), the Mon Federal Council (MSFC), the Mon State Advisory Council (MSCC), and the Committee Representing the Hluttaw of Mon State (CRMH) to discuss the current political situation and future political processes, it was announced today (July 26). The meeting was held on July 21, 2026, and discussed the current political landscape, the needs of future political processes, and cooperation, according to the statement. At the meeting, U Khun U Rel, the rotating chairman of SCEF, and Nai Zeyar, the chairman of the New Mon State Party (Anti-Military Dictatorship), delivered opening remarks, and the attending leaders frankly discussed the current political situation and set out the future course of action, it is reported. Following that, U Mann Win Khai Than, a member of SCEF's Strategic and Policy Steering Committee and Union Minister, and Nai Mon Sein, chairman of the Mon Federal Council's Administrative Committee, delivered closing remarks, and the meeting concluded successfully, according to the statement.
