10 YBS vehicles operating as factory ferries instead of designated routes have their CNG purchase rights permanently suspended

Ten YBS (Yangon Bus Service) passenger vehicles that were found to be operating as factory ferries in industrial zones instead of running on their designated routes have had their CNG (natural gas) purchase rights permanently suspended starting July 25, according to a statement from the interim government's Ministry of Electricity and Energy. It was learned that these YBS vehicles were identified during an inspection after receiving information that they had been changed to operate as factory ferries instead of transporting passengers as line buses. The license plate numbers of the 10 motor vehicles that violated the rules will be announced at all CNG sales stations for public knowledge. Furthermore, the interim government's statement warned that if illegal resale activities between CNG vehicles are detected, the offending vehicles will be severely penalized, including the permanent suspension of their CNG purchase rights. In Yangon city, following the military coup, there have been continuous increases in fuel prices and fuel shortages, leading to a large number of YBS passenger vehicles. However, some YBS vehicles that can obtain CNG gas are operating as factory ferries for factories and workshops that provide regular income, in addition to running as line buses. On the other hand, due to the decrease in line buses and violations of regulations, the public traveling within Yangon city are experiencing longer waiting times for line buses and facing many difficulties and challenges in transportation.
