KAMPONG CHAM, July 8, 2026 (KPT) – General Datuk Haji Malek Razak bin Sulaiman, the Chief of Defence Forces of Malaysia, is on an official visit to Cambodia from July 8 to 11, at the invitation of Commander-in-Chief General Vong Pisen. The visit includes an inspection of Boeung Trakuon in Banteay Meanchey Province, a site at the center of Cambodia’s territorial dispute with Thailand. Accompanied by members of the ASEAN Observer Team, Gen. Malek was briefed by Cambodian officials on what they described as Thai violations of territorial integrity. This area has been a focal point of ongoing territorial disputes between the two neighboring countries, though Thailand has rejected Cambodia’s claims. The Malaysian military chief's itinerary also includes meetings with Cambodian Defence Minister Gen. Tea Seiha, Senate President Hun Sen, and Gen. Vong Pisen.
