Kandal Province Holds Training on Preventing Online Child Sexual Exploitation

Kandal Province, in collaboration with the organization Action for Child Protection (APLE), organized a training session on "Preventing, Combating, and Responding to Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse on the Online System" on September 2, 2026. The training was presided over by Ms. Sroun Sreyneng, Deputy Governor of Kandal Province, Ms. Noun Narady, President of the Provincial Consultation Committee for Women and Children, and Mr. Neng Vannak, representative of APLE. The event was attended by the Deputy Director of the Provincial Administration and authorities from all 13 districts and cities. Ms. Sroun Sreyneng stated that the training is crucial for strengthening the capacity of local officials to understand the prevention, combating, and response to child sexual exploitation and abuse on the online system. The session shared experiences and fundamental knowledge for continued implementation of roles and responsibilities, adapting to the specific situations in each locality. Online child sexual exploitation and abuse has become a global issue and a new concern in Cambodia, requiring all relevant parties, including the public, guardians, authorities, civil society organizations, and law enforcement officials, to work together to prevent and protect children from such acts. Internet connectivity in Cambodia is continuously increasing, providing more people, including children, with access to digital technology. The Deputy Governor urged local authorities to disseminate information on prevention, combating, and responding to online child sexual exploitation and abuse in schools to students and to the general public to broaden their understanding. Mr. Neng Vannak, representing APLE, informed that the training aims to enhance knowledge and skills in preventing, combating, and responding to child sexual exploitation and abuse on the online system more effectively for those working in social services and child protection.
