The International Interchange Development Association (IIDA) of the Republic of Korea has pledged to help promote Cambodia as a tourism destination and attract more Korean tourists and investors to the Kingdom. The commitment was made during a meeting between H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, and Mr. Mun Yong-Jo, President of IIDA, and a delegation of executives from major Korean companies at the Ministry of Tourism on Sept. 8. During the meeting, H.E. Huot Hak highly appreciated and thanked Mr. Mun Yong-Jo and his colleagues for their initiative to strengthen and expand tourism cooperation between the Cambodian Ministry of Tourism and the Korean association. The Minister emphasised the importance of promoting people-to-people exchanges, increasing the number of Korean tourists visiting Cambodia and, in particular, encouraging Korean investors to invest in the Kingdom. H.E. Huot Hak also briefed the delegation on Cambodia’s political, economic and social situation, as well as the development of the tourism sector, stressing that Cambodia remains a safe and welcoming tourism destination. He highlighted the “Visit Cambodia in Green Season” campaign, which is being implemented in cooperation with airlines, tourism companies, content creators and international media to promote Cambodia’s tourism potential, diversify tourism markets and develop more diverse, green and smart tourism products. The Minister noted that tourism has been identified by the Royal Government as a priority sector and an economic pillar under the dynamic and forward-looking leadership of Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, with the aim of driving economic growth and improving people’s livelihoods. For his part, Mr. Mun Yong-Jo pledged to help promote Cambodia’s political situation, socio-economic development, and security and safety conditions among the Korean people and business community, based on what he had personally observed during his visit. He also expressed his intention to share information on the effective measures and results of Cambodia’s crackdown on online scams, carried out under the firm orders of the Prime Minister, as explained by the Minister of Tourism. In addition, the IIDA president pledged to undertake various activities to promote people-to-people exchanges and increase travel and tourism between Cambodia and the Republic of Korea. The IIDA is an international association based in the Republic of Korea with a mission to promote international cooperation and exchanges in culture, education, trade and the economy, as well as organise international events with countries around the world. It is considered a potential partner for promoting Cambodian tourism, connecting business networks and encouraging investment in Cambodia among Korean businesses. By C. Nika
