Online Scam Hubs Raided in Bavet, Cambodia; 38 Foreigners Detained
Three locations suspected of operating online scams were raided in Bavet city, Svay Rieng province, Cambodia, leading to the detention of 38 foreigners, including 34 Vietnamese nationals (7 female) and 4 Bangladeshi nationals (male). Numerous computers, mobile phones, and other evidence were seized.
The Svay Rieng Provincial Police have cracked down on three locations suspected of operating online scams in Bavet city, detaining 38 foreigners. The operation was carried out under the command of National Police Chief General Sok Theth and Svay Rieng Provincial Governor Peng Posa, as part of a province-wide campaign to combat online scams. On July 31, led by Major General Pich Virak, Director of the Svay Rieng Provincial Police, specialized police forces, in cooperation with the Criminal Police Department led by Major General Pol Ratana, and the Bavet City Administration Command led by Men Chanra, the provincial governor of Bavet city, raided three rental house locations in Bavet Kandal village and Bavet Leu village, Bavet city. During the operation, 38 suspects were apprehended, consisting of 34 Vietnamese nationals (including 7 females) and 4 Bangladeshi nationals (males). Seized evidence includes All-In-One desktop computers, laptops, mobile phones, and other related materials. The suspects and evidence are currently being processed by specialized police forces to be sent to the provincial court for legal proceedings. The raided locations have been temporarily sealed off.
