Phnom Penh Authorities Seize Over 1,100 Phones in Online Scam Probe

The Unified Command of Phnom Penh Administration continued its operation by inspecting a location in Tuol Kork district, seizing over 1,100 mobile phones. On September 9, 2026, at approximately 12:30 PM, forces from the Unified Command of Phnom Penh Administration conducted a raid on the house located at No. 147DZ, Street 192Z, Group 23, Village 9, Teak Laok 3 Sangkat, Tuol Kork District, Phnom Penh. During the operation, one individual, Sok Sopha ny, female, 47 years old, a Cambodian national (the homeowner), was found. Evidence discovered included 7 boxes containing 1,145 mobile phones and 16 boxes containing 471 computer spare parts. The operation was carried out under the direct command of Mr. Khuong Sreng, Governor of Phnom Penh, and Lieutenant General Chuon Narin, Deputy Commissioner General of the National Police and Commissioner of Phnom Penh Municipal Police. The crackdown was directly led by Colonel Sim Piseth, Chief of Tuol Kork District Police, with legal procedural coordination from Mr. Tin Socheatra, Deputy Prosecutor of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court. Upon inspection by technical officers from the Anti-Technology Crimes Office, the seized materials were examined. The results indicated that the devices did not contain any data related to online scamming activities. Following the comprehensive inspection, the joint forces decided to hand over the seized evidence and Sok Sopha ny to the Economic Crimes Police Department for further questioning according to legal procedures. No other items were confiscated, and the aforementioned house was returned to the homeowner for management and safekeeping.
