Cambodia Focuses on Domestic Job Creation, Offering 3,780 Opportunities to Youth and Former Migrant Workers

The Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training has continued to organize "Job, Social Security, and Vocational Training Forums" to create domestic employment opportunities. On the morning of July 24, 2026, such a forum was held at the Stueng Trang District Hall in Kampong Cham province. The event brought 3,780 domestic job opportunities from major enterprises, companies, and factories to local citizens, former migrant workers returning from Thailand, and nearly 500 youths. The forum was organized with the aim of further expanding domestic employment opportunities, enhancing understanding of social security, and disseminating vocational training programs. Local authorities, relevant ministries, enterprise representatives, and many private sector stakeholders participated. Mr. Katta On, Secretary of State, representing His Excellency Heng Sour, Minister of Labour and Vocational Training, met with citizens, former migrant workers, and youths who attended the forum. Under the theme "Khmer Helps Find Jobs and Provides Jobs for Khmer," he urged citizens, especially youths and former migrant workers, to seize domestic job opportunities. Currently, enterprises, companies, factories, and special economic zones across the country have a demand for over 90,000 workers. Mr. Katta On emphasized that working legally within the country not only provides a stable income but also offers protection under the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) schemes, including occupational risk, healthcare, and pension benefits, contributing to the improvement of workers' well-being and social security. He also appealed to citizens to avoid illegal migration, which can lead to exploitation, labor rights violations, and a lack of legal protection. Concurrently, Mr. Katta On encouraged youths and citizens to participate in technical and vocational training through the "TVET 1.5 Million" program at the Kampong Cham Provincial Polytechnic Institute. This program offers free training, monthly allowances, and a variety of specializations aligned with labor market demands, including short-term training courses to enhance skills and expand opportunities for decent employment. The job forum saw participation from major enterprises, companies, and factories that brought 3,780 domestic job opportunities. These included Shan Feng (Cambodia) Company Limited, CNI Lihua Bear (Cambodia), Tako Agri, and Cheav Lida Agriculture.
