President U Min Aung Hlaing to meet with Lao President

Head of State U Min Aung Hlaing and his wife, Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, will visit Laos as state guests at the invitation of Lao President Mr. Thongloun Sisoulith, and will hold discussions with the Lao President, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on June 30. During the visit, the Head of State will meet with the Lao President and hold bilateral discussions, as well as meet with the Prime Minister of Laos, the Chairman of the National Assembly of Laos, and will also receive and meet with the chief of the province. In addition, it is known that they will visit famous places and ancient pagodas in Laos. It is understood from the announcement that during the visit, matters to further strengthen the existing friendly relations between Myanmar and Laos, and matters concerning cooperation in economic, cultural, and all sectors between the governments and peoples of the two countries will be exchanged and discussed frankly. During the trip, Union Ministers and responsible officials will accompany the Head of State and his wife. Head of State U Min Aung Hlaing and the Lao President met in Tianjin, China, on September 1, 2025, and discussed matters concerning the stability and peace of the border areas between the two countries, the situation to further promote friendship and cooperation between the governments of the two countries, the situation to further expand the tourism sector and the trade sector, and matters concerning cooperation between the two armed forces.
