Prabowo Urges Calm and Vigilance Amid Anak Krakatau Activity

President Prabowo Subianto of Indonesia has urged the public, particularly residents in Jakarta, Banten, Lampung, and areas around the Sunda Strait, to remain calm but increase their vigilance following increased activity at the Anak Krakatau volcano. Prabowo instructed the public to follow all directives from the government and field officers. Residents were also advised not to approach the Anak Krakatau volcano area and to adhere to the danger zones and safe boundaries established by the authorities. Prabowo stated that he has been continuously monitoring the developments of Anak Krakatau's activity since the beginning. He has received the latest reports and information from relevant agencies and has instructed several institutions to ensure preparedness in facing the evolving situation. "I have ordered the BNPB, BMKG, TNI, Polri, regional governments, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Transportation, as well as related ministries and agencies to continuously monitor the conditions and provide the necessary protection and assistance to the public," Prabowo said in his Instagram account on Sunday (6/9). Prabowo also paid attention to residents affected by volcanic ash. The public is urged to maintain their health by using masks or respiratory protection. Additionally, residents are advised to reduce outdoor activities if the concentration of volcanic ash is quite thick and to follow instructions from health officials and local governments. "The public is urged to remain calm, but must not be complacent. The President will continue to monitor the situation and take every necessary decision and step to ensure the safety and protect all Indonesian people," he said. In his appeal, Prabowo also offered prayers for the safety of the people around Anak Krakatau volcano and the Sunda Strait region in facing this situation. "Let us pray together, may Allah SWT always protect all Indonesian people, especially our brothers and sisters who are around the Anak Krakatau volcano and the Sunda Strait region, as well as our brothers and sisters in various regions who are currently facing calamities and disasters. May they be granted safety, strength, and fortitude in facing every trial," he expressed.
