Cambodia and France Forge Path Towards Space Exploration

Cambodia's Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, Chea Vandeth, attended an international conference on space held in Paris on September 9 and 10. The conference saw the participation of 90 countries, leading space agencies, and numerous major companies, according to information released by the French Embassy in Cambodia on September 11. During his attendance, Minister Chea Vandeth met with astronaut Thomas Pesquet and held discussions with Mrs. Éléonore Caroit, Minister of State attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, responsible for Francophonie, International Partnerships, and French Nationals Abroad. France and the European Union are investing in the space sector, which is full of innovation, research, and cooperation, in compliance with international law. This collaboration between Cambodia and France in the space sector suggests potential for enhancing Cambodia's scientific and technological capabilities, particularly in expanding access to space exploration and satellite technology. In recent years, Cambodia has accelerated investments in infrastructure development and the digital economy, and its interest in space development can be seen as part of its long-term national development strategy.
