Cambodia to Strengthen Space Cooperation with France

Cambodia participated in the International Summit on Space held in Paris, France, from September 9-10, 2026. The Minister of Posts and Telecommunications attended as a representative of Prime Minister Hun Manet, accepting an invitation from French President Emmanuel Macron. The summit, co-organized by France and the Federal Republic of Germany, brought together heads of state, government ministers responsible for space affairs, and representatives from over 90 countries, as well as international organizations and the private sector, totaling more than 2,000 participants. This inaugural summit on space aimed to collectively declare the ambition for the peaceful and sustainable use of outer space, particularly in the context of increasing competition in the space sector and in pursuit of the economic and strategic goals of various nations worldwide. During the summit, Cambodia officially endorsed three statements initiated by the French Republic. On this occasion, the Minister held separate courtesy meetings with Mr. Philippe Baptiste, French Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, and Mrs. Eléonore Caroit, Minister Delegate for Francophonie, International Partnerships and French Nationals Abroad. Minister Baptiste and Minister Philippe Baptiste discussed the potential for technical cooperation and human resource development in satellite and space technologies. The French side expressed gratitude to the Cambodian side for endorsing the three statements. In discussions with Mrs. Eléonore Caroit, both sides delved into the possibilities of expanding Cambodia-France cooperation in artificial intelligence, space, cybersecurity, quantum technology, and semiconductors. Following the summit, the Minister will lead a delegation on a working visit to space institutions and companies in Toulouse, a major hub for the space industry in France and Europe. Source: AKP Khmer
