With this new role, Sarmiento is now the counterpart of Mohagher Iqbal, the head of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) peace implementing panel. Sarmiento retains his position as chief of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity.
