President Prabowo, VP Gibran Attend Democratic Party's 25th Anniversary

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka attended the 25th anniversary celebration of the Democratic Party on Wednesday night at the Indonesia Arena, Jakarta. Prabowo and Gibran were welcomed by Chairman of the High Council of the Democratic Party, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), and General Chairman of the Democratic Party, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY). President Prabowo was seen in a long-sleeved white shirt and a black turban, while Vice President Gibran wore a black suit with a red tie. The event, held at the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) complex in Senayan, Jakarta, was also attended by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani. After shaking hands with a number of Democratic Party cadres, the President and Vice President proceeded to their designated seats, accompanied by SBY and AHY. The Democratic Party was founded on September 9, 2001, initiated by SBY, and officially ratified by the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights on August 27, 2003. It was declared at the Jakarta Hilton Convention Center on October 17, 2002. In the 2004 general election, the Democratic Party nominated SBY alongside Jusuf Kalla, winning the direct presidential election with 60.1 percent of the vote in the second round. Currently, the party is led by AHY as chairman, with SBY serving as the chairman of the High Council.
