Cambodia Inspects Casinos in Bavet City for Cyber Scam Prevention

Authorities in Cambodia's Svay Rieng province, in collaboration with the Commercial Gambling Management Committee (GDC), conducted an inspection and quality assessment of the 'New World' casino located in Bavet city on Saturday, July 25, 2026. The inspection was facilitated and led by Men Eng, Deputy Governor, representing Governor Peng Porsar. The meeting was attended by Senior Colonel Sen Sopheap, Deputy Secretary-General of the GDC, along with a Deputy Prosecutor of the Svay Rieng Provincial Court, Deputy Provincial Police Commissioner, Bavet City Governor, and representatives from various inter-ministerial technical working groups and relevant authorities. The primary objective of this inspection mission is to ensure that all casinos holding a legal license from the GDC are not illicitly facilitating cyber scams or other criminal activities as stipulated in Government Order No. 01 dated July 14, 2025, concerning the campaign to eradicate cyber scams. Furthermore, the initiative aims to collect and update information on casinos nationwide to enhance management efficiency and serve as an official basis for reviewing the validity of casino business licenses for 2026. Specifically, it seeks to assess the current state of Cambodia's casino sector, providing crucial input for the development of the vision and strategy for the Cambodian commercial gambling sector up to 2030, and for establishing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to further improve transparency and efficiency in casino management. It is noted that these casino inspection and quality assessment activities will be continuously implemented at all casino locations within Svay Rieng province, commencing from July 22, 2026, until August 9, 2026.
