RLC Executives Build on Gokongwei Legacy, Drive Growth Strategy
Robinsons Land Corp. (RLC) is pursuing a growth strategy to nearly double its profits by 2030, building on the Gokongwei family's founding spirit and values. Led by its first female CEO, Mybelle Aragon-GoBio, the company emphasizes contribution to nation-building and integrity.
MANILA, Philippines — Robinsons Land Corp. (RLC), a leading property developer in the Philippines, is embarking on its next chapter by building on the legacy and values of its founding Gokongwei family. Mybelle Aragon-GoBio, who was appointed president and CEO in 2025 as the first woman and non-family member to lead RLC, emphasized that the company's growth strategy is not solely about chasing profits. Instead, it focuses on how projects "contribute to progress, nation-building, and how it really improves lives." She also highlighted the Gokongwei family's guidance that "growth and ambition on one side does not have to be in conflict with discipline and prudence," enabling sustainable and responsible growth. Jericho Go, RLC senior vice president for Robinsons Offices, shared a key lesson from the late John Gokongwei Jr.: "the family is here to support the business and the business is not here to support the family." This principle, he explained, sets the tone for the company's nation-building ethos. He also noted that the owners are deeply involved in operations, providing resources and connections to help teams perform at their best. Barun Jolly, RLC senior vice president for Robinsons Hotels and Resorts, cited the Gokongwei family's entrepreneurial spirit, stewardship, and integrity as guiding principles. Ramon Rivero, chief strategist for Robinsons Sports and Leisure, credited the family for their relentless innovation, pointing to Cebu Pacific's disruption of the airline industry, the introduction of C2 bottled tea, and recent ventures into fintech with GoTyme. RLC is a key subsidiary of JG Summit Holdings, which owns other industry-leading companies. Lance Gokongwei, president and CEO of JG Summit, stated that future leaders must possess integrity, prudence, entrepreneurial spirit, and boldness to dream, along with a hunger to find customer solutions and pursue growth opportunities. He also acknowledged the challenge of making the business attractive for the next generation of family members. Information Source: Philstar Business
