P748,000 Worth of Shabu Seized, 2 Arrested in Upscale CDO Subdivision
An anti-narcotics operation in an upscale residential area in Cagayan de Oro City resulted in the arrest of two suspects and the seizure of high-value methamphetamine (shabu). This is part of ongoing efforts to combat illegal drugs in the city.
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — A late afternoon anti-narcotics operation shattered the quiet of Villa Ernesto Subdivision, one of this city’s established upscale residential enclaves in Barangay Gusa, leading to the arrest of a high-value individual and the seizure of approximately P748,000 worth of suspected shabu on Monday. Operatives from the City Drug Enforcement Unit conducted the operation. The arrested suspects were not immediately identified, but one was confirmed to be a high-value individual. The operation is part of the city government’s intensified campaign against illegal drugs. Cagayan de Oro City, a major economic hub in Northern Mindanao, has been a target of law enforcement agencies in their relentless pursuit of drug syndicates and their operations. Authorities have repeatedly warned that drug personalities are not selective and can be found in all strata of society, including affluent communities. This latest bust is expected to further boost the morale of the local police force and encourage more citizens to report suspicious activities in their neighborhoods. The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) have been working in coordination to dismantle drug networks and curb the supply of illegal substances across the country.
