Cambodia's Ministry of Health Pushes for Expanded Health Education Content

Cambodia's Ministry of Health has directed an expansion in the production of educational content concerning major diseases and health measures, aiming to enhance public health literacy among its citizens. This initiative is considered crucial for elevating the health literacy of every individual. During the August leadership meeting, Health Minister Prof. Dr. Chheang Ra urged all departments to collaborate with relevant ministries and leverage digital platforms to accelerate online operations. He also emphasized the need for each unit to monitor its work progress, strive for goal achievement, and strengthen cooperation with partner ministries. Furthermore, the Minister called upon all provinces and cities to maintain a high level of attention towards combating dengue fever. This includes continuous efforts in mosquito eradication, the use of mosquito nets, the application of abate larvicide, and the promotion of health education on dengue prevention and timely access to healthcare services for suspected cases. He also urged heightened vigilance against other infectious diseases that still pose a public health risk. Minister Prof. Dr. Chheang Ra instructed hospital leadership to intensify the production of educational materials and videos focusing on public health knowledge, particularly concerning infectious and non-communicable diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, and oral health, along with effective health maintenance measures. He stated that these efforts in the health sector are expected to yield long-term results. The first leadership meeting for August, aimed at setting future directions and promoting ongoing work, was held on August 3, 2026, at the Ministry of Health headquarters. It was attended by approximately 150 participants, including ministry leaders, central agencies, the Phnom Penh Municipal Health Department, and provincial health department directors via Zoom.
