Cambodia's Health Minister Urges Expansion of Health Education Content to Boost Public Knowledge

Cambodia's Minister of Health, Dr. Chheang Ra, has emphasized the need to enhance the production of health education content in all forms, targeting major diseases, to boost public health knowledge. Dr. Ra made these remarks during the first leadership meeting for August on August 3rd. The meeting was attended by approximately 150 participants, including ministry leaders, central units, the Phnom Penh Municipal Health Department, and provincial health departments via Zoom. The Minister urged departments to collaborate and accelerate online work through digital systems, connecting with relevant ministries and institutions. He also stressed the importance of monitoring work progress from the office level to achieve planned indicators and foster strong cooperation with relevant ministries and institutions. Furthermore, he reminded provincial authorities to continue prioritizing the fight against dengue fever by regularly eliminating mosquito breeding sites, spraying insecticides, and applying larvicides. He also called for continued health education and dissemination on dengue prevention and timely access to nearby health services for suspected cases. The Minister also advised increasing vigilance against various infectious diseases that still pose public health risks. He also instructed hospital leaders to increase the production of educational materials and videos on various infectious and non-communicable diseases, including cancer, cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, and oral health, along with effective health maintenance measures.
