Kampong Cham Province Inaugurates Irrigation System Rehabilitation for Agricultural Advancement

On the morning of September 1, 2026, His Excellency Aun Chanda, Governor of Kampong Cham Province, led technical officials, local authorities, and relevant stakeholders to inspect the progress of the construction and rehabilitation of the Tuol Tuk Cha irrigation system in Boeung Nay and Kroch communes, Prey Chhor district, Kampong Cham province. During the inspection visit, His Excellency the Governor instructed the technical officials to closely monitor the implementation of this infrastructure construction project in cooperation with local authorities and stakeholders. This is to ensure that the construction is carried out according to proper technical standards, guaranteeing high quality and long-term durability. His Excellency the Governor emphasized that the Tuol Tuk Cha irrigation system is crucial for supplying water to meet the agricultural irrigation needs of farmers, especially for rice cultivation. He added that it is a potent force that can facilitate farmers' agricultural activities in Prey Chhor district, leading to higher rice yields, improved economy, and better family livelihoods. Mr. Oum Vibol, Director of the Provincial Department of Water Resources and Meteorology, stated that the construction and repair of the Tuol Tuk Cha irrigation system infrastructure is a rehabilitation project divided into two types: 1. The eastern side of the Tuol Tuk Cha irrigation system, concrete canal (C): two lines, 2 kilometers long, with earthen sub-canals totaling 17.505 kilometers, and 116 small and large structures, capable of supplying and irrigating approximately over 970 hectares of agricultural land for more than 1,261 farming families. 2. The construction of the western side of the Tuol Tuk Cha irrigation system, concrete canal (A-B): nine lines, 4.12 kilometers long, with 61 small and large structures, capable of irrigating 950 hectares of agricultural land for 1,276 farming families. The progress of the construction project is: earthen sub-canal and concrete canal work has achieved 100%, and the construction of structures has achieved 90%.
