Yangon-Mawlamyine-Yangon DEMU train starts running

The 83 Up / 84 Down Yangon-Mawlamyine-Yangon DEMU express train has started running from July 1. The ceremony to mark the commencement of the Yangon-Mawlamyine-Yangon DEMU express train service was held early on the morning of July 1 at Yangon Central Railway Station, with the attendance of Yangon Region Chief Minister U Aung Naing Thu, Deputy Minister of Transport U Aung Myint, and officials from the regional government, it is reported. Commemorative gifts were presented by the Yangon Region Chief Minister and officials to passengers who rode the inaugural Yangon-Mawlamyine DEMU train service. The 83 Up Yangon-Mawlamyine DEMU train departs from Yangon Central Railway Station at 5 AM, and the 84 Down Mawlamyine-Yangon DEMU train departs from Mawlamyine Station at 12 PM. Tickets for the 83 Up / 84 Down Yangon-Mawlamyine-Yangon DEMU train can be purchased from the ORTP website, with tickets for the final destination available 7 days in advance and for intermediate stations 5 days in advance. The fares are set at 22,000 Kyats for the Upper Class and 16,000 Kyats for the First Class. The train will stop at Touk Chaung Gyi, Bago, Thein Zayat, Kyaikto, Thaton, and Paung stations, Myanmar Railways announced.
