Pailin Province in Cambodia is prioritizing the fight against online scams, strengthening efforts to ensure security and protect its citizens. The provincial governor has urged relevant agencies to enhance vigilance and responsible action to eradicate technological crimes and maintain social order.
Pailin Province, Cambodia – On September 1, 2026, a meeting led by Dr. Ban Sreymom, Governor of Pailin Province and Head of the Provincial Administration Unity Command, reviewed security operations for August and assessed the progress of the campaign to eradicate online scams. Governor Ban Sreymom declared a firm commitment to ensuring that such criminal activities are absolutely prevented within the province. Dr. Ban Sreymom emphasized that combating technological fraud, specifically online scams, is a top priority and a crucial task for all levels of administration and law enforcement. This requires heightened attention and high responsibility from everyone involved in resolving these issues effectively, in line with the directives of the Royal Government of Cambodia led by Prime Minister Hun Manet. The provincial governor further stated that the ongoing campaign to prevent and crack down on various crimes, particularly online scams, aims to strengthen the implementation of social security, order, and public discipline throughout the Kingdom. This aligns with the government's necessary measures, requiring close attention to managing security in residential areas, monitoring the settlement of foreigners, and inspecting casino locations. The objective is to effectively prevent illegal entry and residence of foreigners and to curb criminal activities, especially online scams. During the occasion, Dr. Ban Sreymom commended and highly valued the Provincial Administration Unity Command and local authorities for their diligent efforts and responsible performance, which have yielded positive results. She specifically acknowledged improvements in providing fair, just, and transparent public services to citizens and in addressing issues and requests from the populace, in accordance with the government's "Safe Village-Commune" policy.
