Cambodia Modernizes Vegetable Production Statistics System with FarmBook App Enhancement

The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Cambodia is advancing efforts to modernize its statistics collection system for vegetable production nationwide. As part of this initiative, it has decided to further enhance the existing mobile application, 'FarmBook App,' to improve its usability. This new endeavor was discussed during a meeting on 'Vegetable Production Statistics Collection Procedures by Commune Agricultural Officials,' held on September 8, 2026, at the Ministry's headquarters. The meeting was attended by Secretary of State H.E. Hian Vanna Hon, along with leaders and representatives from relevant departments. According to the Ministry, the objective of this meeting was to review and determine methodologies for collecting vegetable production statistics that ensure a single standard, high efficiency, and accuracy through direct implementation by commune agricultural officials across the country. The Ministry explained that it will synthesize and integrate existing data collection methods with the mechanism of commune agricultural officials and the use of digital technologies, including a mobile application (App), recording information based on geolocation, and collecting data directly from stakeholders in the production supply chain. This aims to ensure that vegetable production data is accurate, timely, traceable, and effectively usable, thereby supporting planning, decision-making, and the development of the vegetable production sector. Specifically, during the meeting, it was agreed to synthesize and integrate existing methodologies with the commune agricultural official mechanism, deciding to further develop the 'FarmBook App' and incorporate forms for precise and easy collection and tracking of vegetable production data. This improvement is expected to reduce working time and burden, enhance accuracy, ensure timely information provision, and facilitate the core tasks of commune agricultural officials at the local level.
