Battambang City Prepares for Major Road Upgrades: 15 International Firms Inspect 21 Routes

Battambang City, the capital of Battambang Province in western Cambodia, is preparing for a significant infrastructure upgrade involving 21 road routes. On August 7, 2026, representatives from 15 international companies conducted an on-site inspection of these routes, accompanied by H.E. Vong Piseth, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, and H.E. Sok Lou, Governor of Battambang Province. This inspection is part of the preparations for upcoming construction bids. The bid documents for these 21 road sections are scheduled to be opened on August 28, 2026. Following the completion of the bidding process, construction is expected to commence around September 2026. Upon completion, this project is anticipated to significantly enhance Battambang City's aesthetics, attract national and international tourists, and greatly improve the convenience of daily life and travel for its residents. Battambang City is currently undertaking three major projects funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), implemented by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport. These projects include: * A standard landfill in Ta Khram village, Banan district, which is one of the largest in Cambodia. * A wastewater drainage system on the east bank of the Sangke River. * A wastewater drainage system on the west bank of the Sangke River. These initiatives are expected to bring numerous benefits, promoting environmental sanitation and improving the quality of life for the citizens of Battambang City.
