Cambodia's Ministry of Education Encourages Students Who Failed High School Exams to Retake

The Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sport of Cambodia is strongly encouraging students who failed this year's high school graduation examination (Bac II) to continue their studies and enhance their abilities for the upcoming examination next year. This directive follows the examination results released for the exam held on August 10, 2026. In this year's exam, 144,848 students took the test, with 125,975 passing, resulting in a pass rate of 84.06%. However, 18,873 students did not pass. The Ministry stated, "Failing the exam is not the end. You can prepare yourselves again and return next year with stronger abilities." Furthermore, Dr. Hang Chuon Naron, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth, and Sport, previously stated, "Students should not think that the high school graduation exam determines their destiny, as exams always have both passers and failers. What is important is to continue learning. Students' abilities differ; some learn well, while others struggle, depending on individual, family, and innate natural factors." Concurrently, the Ministry of Education is appealing to parents to encourage and support their children to pursue vocational training in fields they are passionate about. This aims to help them avoid dropping out due to discouragement and improve their employability.
