Prabowo Urges Young Civil Servants: Be Honest and Fight Corruption

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has strongly urged the 1,204 graduates appointed as "Pamong Praja Muda" (young civil servants) from the Institute of Public Administration (IPDN) in Jatinangor, to refrain from corruption. The swearing-in ceremony took place at the IPDN campus on Wednesday (29/7). Prabowo emphasized that the public does not need convoluted bureaucracy or corrupt state apparatus. "The people need, and even demand, apparatus that works honestly, is disciplined, clean, does not engage in corruption, dares to make decisions, and is always present when the people need them. The people demand state apparatus that prioritizes the people's interests, not personal or group interests," said Prabowo. The President reminded that becoming a "Pamong Praja" is not merely about holding a rank or position. He stressed that the honor of a state apparatus is not measured by their position, but by how much benefit their people feel from them. "You are servants of the people. You must serve, protect, and embrace the people. Embrace the Indonesian people in the best possible way," he stated. Prabowo asserted that the "Pamong Praja" represent the face and symbol of the nation wherever they serve. Therefore, their attitude and appearance will be the people's assessment of the state. "Whether the state is present or not, whether the state is orderly or not, whether the state is proud or not, whether our state is a respected nation or not," he remarked. The President also stated that the performance of the "Pamong Praja" will determine the people's love and trust in the nation.
