Cambodia to Send 15 Officials for Media Training in India

Fifteen officials from the Cambodian Ministry of Information will participate in a specialized training course on 'New Era Media and Information Technology' from September 14 to 25, 2026, at the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) in New Delhi, India. This training program is organized under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Program, a significant capacity-building initiative of India established in 1964. Prior to their departure for India, the Indian Embassy in Phnom Penh organized a meeting for discussions and exchange of views with the trainees, senior officials from the Ministry of Information, and media representatives. H.E. Net Phakthra, Minister of Information, presided over the occasion as the guest of honor. During the event, H.E. Vanlalvawna Bawitlung, the Indian Ambassador, highlighted the long-standing and progressing cooperation between India and Cambodia, especially in the fields of capacity building and human resource development. The Ambassador also emphasized the crucial role of journalists in highlighting the close and strong relationship between India and Cambodia and expressed hope that this program would contribute to these efforts. The training program, organized by C-DAC in New Delhi in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Creative Skills, will provide trainees with hands-on experience in various fields, including the creation of short videos and Reels using VFX technology, audio editing, WordPress website development, data journalism, information technology law and privacy, as well as ethical standards and fact-checking. Trainees will also have the opportunity to visit news editorial offices to gain practical experience and understanding of modern media practices. The Indian Embassy remains firmly committed to cooperating with Cambodia on capacity building and human resource development through the ITEC program and other initiatives, and to further deepening the close and long-standing cooperative partnership between the two countries. The Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Program, or ITEC, is a flagship capacity-building platform of the Ministry of External Affairs of the Government of India. Established in 1964, ITEC is one of the oldest institutional mechanisms for international capacity building, having trained over 225,000 officials from more than 160 countries in both civilian and defense fields, through programs organized by over 120 participating institutions in India. Annually, approximately 300 Cambodian officials participate in various training courses under the umbrella of the ITEC program.
