Cambodia Information Ministry Officials Undergo New-Age Media Training in India

PHNOM PENH, Sept 10, 2026 (KPT) — Fifteen officials from Cambodia’s Ministry of Information will travel to India for specialized training in new‑age media and information technology under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Programme, officials said Thursday. The officials will attend a certificate course from September 14 to 25 at the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing in Delhi. The training is organized under ITEC, India’s flagship capacity‑building initiative launched in 1964 by the Ministry of External Affairs. Ahead of their departure, the Embassy of India in Phnom Penh hosted an interaction session with the participants, senior Information Ministry officials and media representatives. Information Minister Neth Pheaktra attended as chief guest. Indian Ambassador Vanlalvawna Bawitlung highlighted the growing cooperation between the two countries, particularly in capacity building and human‑resource development. He underscored the role of media professionals in strengthening ties between India and Cambodia. The course will provide practical exposure to modern media skills including short‑form video production, VFX‑powered reels, soundtrack editing, WordPress development, data journalism, IT and privacy laws, ethical standards and fact‑checking. Participants will also visit Indian newsrooms to gain insights into contemporary media operations. The programme is conducted by C‑DAC Delhi in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Creative Skills. The embassy said it remains committed to supporting Cambodia’s human‑resource development through ITEC and other initiatives. Since its launch, ITEC has trained more than 225,000 officials from over 160 countries. Around 300 Cambodian officials participate annually. The latest training offers Cambodian information officials an opportunity to strengthen technical and professional skills in emerging areas of digital media, including multimedia production and digital content development.
