156 individuals involved in online scam and gambling arrested in Kengtung Township with business equipment

It has been reported that 156 individuals involved in committing online scam and gambling offenses in Kengtung Township were arrested along with business equipment. Around 7 AM on August 7, security forces conducted investigations and operations to ensure that individuals engaged in online scam and gambling were not residing or operating within their respective areas. Following an informant's tip that illegal online scam operations were being conducted in a compound with constructed buildings near the Naung Le Fish Pond restaurant in Naung Le village, Kaffay village tract, Kengtung Township, Shan State (Eastern), the forces went to investigate. As a result, 140 males and 4 females from China, 1 female from Laos, and 8 males and 3 females from Myanmar, totaling 148 males and 8 females, or 156 individuals in all, were arrested along with 658 various mobile phones, 134 All-in-One computers, 28 laptops, 3 WIFI ROUTERs, 13 STAR LINK GAN-3s, 15 CPUs, 5 UPSs, one 120 KV generator, one 155 KV generator, one refrigerator, and one freezer. It is reported that after the necessary investigations are completed for those arrested who were engaged in these online scam and gambling activities, strict and severe action will be taken in accordance with existing laws, and the seized business equipment will be further processed according to procedures. It is reported that the state continues to carry out activities to combat online scam and gambling in cooperation with neighboring countries, regional countries, and international organizations to eradicate online scam and gambling offenses and prevent their establishment within Myanmar.
