Vietnam Airports Among Asia-Pacific's Most Improved in Air Connectivity

Several Vietnamese airports have been recognized for their significant improvements in air connectivity across the Asia-Pacific region, underscoring Vietnam's efforts to strengthen its position as an international hub and foster economic growth. Lien Khuong International Airport in Lam Dong province, serving Da Lat, has been instrumental in the return of international passengers, with the arrival of AirAsia Flight AK571 from Kuala Lumpur marking a key milestone. The airport is set for further expansion, with its Terminal T1 expansion project scheduled to begin in August 2027 and expected to be operational by January 2029. Renovation of the existing terminal is slated for completion in August 2029, aiming to enhance the airport's capacity and service standards. In parallel, a 43.5km metro line is under construction to connect Ho Chi Minh City with Long Thanh Airport. This new line will run from Suoi Tien Station, the terminus of the existing Ben Thanh–Suoi Tien metro line, to Long Thanh Airport, designed for a maximum speed of 120km per hour. This development is expected to significantly improve access to the major airport, thereby boosting the efficiency of logistics and passenger transport. Investment in Vietnam's aviation infrastructure is a crucial pillar of its economic growth strategy. The government is focused on developing airports that meet international standards and expanding the transportation network connecting key domestic cities. This lays the groundwork for attracting foreign investment and revitalizing the tourism sector. Under its one-party system, Vietnam is steadily implementing long-term infrastructure development plans led by the government. The recent improvements in airport connectivity reflect Vietnam's policy of prioritizing economic growth and its commitment to deepening international cooperation. Particularly as relations with China remain complex, Vietnam is emphasizing diversified partnerships with Europe, the US, Japan, and others, with the strengthening of its air network being a part of this strategy.
