Former Phu Quoc Police Chief Sentenced to 18 Years for Fraud

On September 18, the An Giang Provincial People's Court sentenced Le Van Mot (born 1966, former Colonel), the former Chief of Phu Quoc City Police, to 18 years in prison for property fraud. His accomplice, Nguyen Thi Hang (born 1979, from Ninh Binh province), received a 30-year sentence for property fraud and money laundering. This verdict is seen as a reflection of Vietnam's strict stance against corruption and illicit activities. The case, involving fraud by a high-ranking law enforcement official, has garnered significant public attention.
