Cambodia Warns Content Creators Over Inappropriate Material, Tightens Regulation

The Ministry of Information in Cambodia has issued a formal warning to two influencer groups, "Nai Krob" and "Kru Tua," for producing and disseminating inappropriate content that violates social ethics, women's dignity, and promotes discrimination against individuals with illnesses. The ministry summoned representatives from both groups on August 3rd and 4th for education, guidance, and a formal warning. Representatives from the two content creation groups acknowledged their mistakes, apologized to the public, and signed a contract pledging to eliminate inappropriate content and refrain from repeating such offenses. The Ministry of Information stated it will continue to closely monitor the activities of these two groups, along with others, with the utmost attention. In the event of new violations, the ministry will take appropriate measures in accordance with existing laws and regulations, without exception. The Ministry of Information also appealed to the public, social media users, and all stakeholders to continue monitoring and reporting content that violates laws, ethics, and the dignity of individuals and social values, in order to jointly build a responsible, ethical, and safe information environment for the entire society. Furthermore, the Ministry of Information urged all types of content creators, digital content producers, and social media influencers to adhere to professional ethics, respect the law, and uphold the dignity, rights, and values of individuals. They were specifically advised to avoid producing or disseminating content that is discriminatory, incites hatred, demeans, insults, or violates the honor and dignity of any individual or group, especially women, children, people with disabilities, the sick, and other vulnerable groups. The ministry emphasized that responsible and ethical content creation, respecting human values, is a crucial foundation for building a quality information environment and a civilized, safe digital society.
