MANILA, Philippines — Metro Manila and other parts of the country are expected to experience generally fair weather, with chances of isolated rain showers and thunderstorms on Monday, July 20, due to the southwest monsoon, or habagat, according to the state weather bureau. In its morning update, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the habagat is forecast to bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the following areas: READ: Agriculture officials fear ‘super’ El Niño “This southwest monsoon will continue to affect our country for the next two to three days,” Pagasa weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said in Filipino. Aurelio also said the cloud cluster being monitored outside the Philippine area of responsibility still has a chance of developing into a low-pressure area in the coming days. The cloud cluster currently has no effect on any part of the country. No gale warning is in effect over any seaboard of the country, but fishermen are advised to remain cautious of possible thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon and evening. /mcm
