Cambodian Authorities Safely Locate Missing Singaporean Woman

AKP Phnom Penh, August 1, 2026 -- Cambodian authorities have located a 20-year-old Singaporean woman who had been reported missing after travelling to Cambodia, confirming that she is safe and was not a victim of human trafficking or abuse. According to H.E. Touch Sokhak, Deputy Spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior, Cambodian law enforcement authorities launched an immediate coordinated operation after receiving a request for intervention from the woman's parents. The operation involved the General Department of Immigration and the Phnom Penh Municipal Police Commissariat, which worked together to locate the missing Singaporean national. Authorities subsequently found the woman staying at a condominium in Phnom Penh, where she told police that she had travelled to Cambodia due to personal family issues and had voluntarily cut off communication with her family. She confirmed to Cambodian police that she had not been subjected to human trafficking or any form of abuse. The Ministry of Interior said the woman is safe and is receiving appropriate care and assistance from the competent Cambodian authorities. Singaporean media outlet Channel News Asia reported that the woman, identified as Siti Aishah Siregar Sahat Siregar, was found by Cambodian authorities on July 31 after being reported missing. The Singapore Police Force (SPF) said it had contacted its Cambodian National Police counterpart to obtain further information and provide any necessary assistance. "The police express appreciation to the Cambodian authorities for their prompt assistance," the SPF said in a statement. The case underscores the close and effective cooperation between Cambodian and Singaporean authorities in ensuring the safety and well-being of foreign nationals and facilitating timely consular coordination.
