Cambodia Deports 162 Chinese Nationals Over Online Scam Involvement

Cambodia has deported a total of 162 Chinese nationals, including two women, who were implicated in online scam activities. The operation, conducted on July 19, 2026, was carried out under the high recommendation of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sar Sokha, and other leaders of the Ministry of Interior. The Director General of Immigration, Lieutenant General Sok Vasna, instructed the Department of Investigation and Procedure to cooperate with the Chinese Embassy in the Kingdom of Cambodia to proceed with the deportation. The deported foreigners were involved in online scams and were also found to be without passports and were illegally residing and working in the country. They were expelled through the Techo International Border Gate. This deportation of foreign nationals is a strict legal measure implemented in accordance with the resolute directives of Prime Minister Hun Manet and the strong leadership of Deputy Prime Minister Sar Sokha, in an effort to clean up and eliminate all technology-based crimes occurring within the Kingdom of Cambodia. The objective is to ensure the safety and security of citizens both domestically and globally, without exception. Special attention is being given to apprehending the masterminds behind these operations and to rescuing victims who were deceived into participating in these online scam activities, enabling their safe return to their home countries.
