Cambodia's Ministry of Information Discusses Strengthening Cooperation with Smart Axiata on Digital Transformation and Information Sector
Cambodia's Ministry of Information met with telecommunications leader Smart Axiata to discuss strengthening cooperation in the ICT sector and advancing digital transformation. Both parties confirmed their commitment to collaborate on promoting quality information dissemination, combating misinformation, and ensuring the safe use of digital technologies.
The Ministry of Information of Cambodia has discussed strengthening cooperation with the leading telecommunications operator Smart Axiata Co., Ltd. on the advancement of the information and communication technology (ICT) sector and digital transformation. During a meeting held at the Ministry of Information on August 6, 2026, Minister Neth Pheaktra met with Mr. Ritesh KUMAR SINGH, CEO of Smart Axiata Co., Ltd. Mr. Singh informed the minister that Smart Axiata is a leading telecommunications operator in the Kingdom of Cambodia, actively contributing to social and economic development through continuous investment to strengthen and expand telecommunications infrastructure, the deployment of modern digital technologies and services, and the creation of numerous job opportunities for Cambodian citizens. Minister Neth Pheaktra expressed his appreciation for Smart Axiata's contributions to the development of the telecommunications sector and the promotion of digital transformation in Cambodia, which have supported economic growth, job creation, and the improvement of the quality of life for the citizens. The Minister highlighted that the Royal Government of Cambodia, under the leadership of Prime Minister Samdech Moha Bovor Thipadei Hun Manet, places significant emphasis on promoting digital transformation and building a digital economy, encouraging close cooperation between state institutions and the private sector. The Minister stated that the Ministry of Information highly values cooperation with the private sector and encourages Smart Axiata to continue its collaboration with the Ministry in promoting the dissemination of quality, professional, ethical, and responsible information, as well as contributing to combating fake news and the safe and effective use of digital technologies. In addition, the Minister expressed his confidence that Smart Axiata will continue to strengthen and expand its cooperation with the Ministry of Information and relevant institutions to contribute to the development of the information and broadcasting sector in line with the context of the digital revolution and the government's policies for building a digital society in Cambodia.
