Cambodia's Ministry of Information Discusses Strengthening Cooperation with Smart Axiata for Digital Transformation

Phnom Penh – On August 6, 2026, the Ministry of Information and Smart Axiata Co., Ltd. held discussions to strengthen cooperation and contributions to promoting the development of the information, telecommunications, and digital transformation sectors in Cambodia. The meeting took place at the Ministry of Information between H.E. Net Pheaktra, Minister of Information, and Mr. Ritesh KUMAR SINGH, CEO of Smart Axiata Co., Ltd. Mr. Ritesh KUMAR SINGH informed H.E. Net Pheaktra that Smart is a leading telecommunications operator in the Kingdom of Cambodia, actively contributing to social and economic development through continuous investment to strengthen and expand telecommunications infrastructure, deploy advanced digital technologies and services, and create numerous job opportunities for the Cambodian people. On this occasion, H.E. Net Pheaktra expressed appreciation for Smart's contributions to the development of the telecommunications sector and the promotion of digital transformation in Cambodia, which has supported economic growth, job creation, and the improvement of the quality of life for citizens. His Excellency the Minister emphasized that the Royal Government of Cambodia, under the leadership of Samdech Techo Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, places great importance on promoting digital transformation and building a digital economy, encouraging close cooperation between state institutions and the private sector. His Excellency the Minister stated that the Ministry of Information highly values cooperation with the private sector and encourages Smart to continue participating with the Ministry of Information in promoting quality, professional, ethical, and responsible information dissemination, as well as contributing to combating fake news and the safe and effective use of digital technologies. Concurrently, His Excellency the Minister expressed his confidence that Smart will continue to strengthen and expand cooperation with the Ministry of Information and relevant institutions to contribute to the development of the information and broadcasting sectors in line with the context of the digital revolution and the government's policies for building a digital society in Cambodia.
