In the Cambodian coastal city of Sihanoukville, authorities have raided a location suspected of being an online scam operation, leading to the detention of 10 Chinese nationals. The operation, conducted on August 31, 2026, was led by the Sihanoukville City Administrative Unity Command, with procedural coordination from the Preah Sihanouk Provincial Court Prosecutor's Office. During the search of three connected townhouses in Village 5, Sangkat 4, authorities discovered electronic equipment linked to online fraud. Seized items include four laptops, 118 mobile phones, and one tablet. Among the 10 detained individuals, seven (including two women) were found to be residing without valid passports. The suspects and seized evidence have been transferred to the Preah Sihanouk Provincial Police for further investigation and legal proceedings. This operation was carried out under the guidance of HE Mang Sineth, President of the Preah Sihanouk Provincial Administrative Unity Command. He has instructed all municipal and district administrative unity commands to intensify efforts in public awareness campaigns concerning government policies, particularly focusing on eradicating online scams nationwide, with a special emphasis on cleansing Sihanoukville of such activities.
