Cambodia, Korean Business Chambers Boost Trade and Investment Cooperation

AKP Phnom Penh, July 20, 2026 -- The Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (CCC) and the Korea Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia (KOCHAM) have agreed to deepen economic cooperation and strengthen business ties to promote investment and trade between the private sectors of both countries. The agreement was reached during a meeting on July 19 between CCC President and ASEAN Business Advisory Council Cambodia Chair Mr. Kith Meng and KOCHAM President Mr. Kim Seong-su, who discussed ways to expand cooperation and enhance business connections between Cambodian and South Korean companies. According to a CCC’s statement released on July 20, the two sides agreed to establish a sustainable cooperation mechanism and plan to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) covering key areas including investment, trade, business support, information exchange and the promotion of investment opportunities. KOCHAM also confirmed it will actively participate in the 16 working groups of the Government-Private Sector Forum (G-PSF), coordinated by the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce. The participation is expected to ensure that the views of Korean businesses are better represented in discussions on investment, trade, industry and human resource development, while contributing to improvements in Cambodia's business environment. Both organisations said the meeting demonstrated their shared commitment to strengthening their strategic partnership, promoting bilateral trade and investment, and creating new business opportunities that support Cambodia's sustainable and inclusive economic development. The meeting comes as economic relations between the two countries continue to grow under the Cambodia-Korea Free Trade Agreement (CKFTA), which entered into force on Dec. 1, 2022. According to the General Department of Customs and Excise of Cambodia, bilateral trade reached US$599.73 million in the first half of 2026, an increase of 36.8 percent from the same period last year. Cambodia's exports to South Korea rose 38.2 percent to US$209.81 million, while imports from South Korea climbed 36.8 percent to US$389.91 million. By Sum Kosal
