Cambodia Boosts Youth Employment Through Vocational Training: 1,890 in Siem Reap Receive Free Skills Development

In Siem Reap Province, Cambodia, vocational training opportunities are being provided to 1,890 young individuals from impoverished and vulnerable families. This initiative is part of the "TVET 1.5M" program, implemented by the Regional Polytechnic Institute Techo Sen Siem Reap (RPITSSR) under the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training. The program offers free access to acquire skills in 11 specialized fields. These include building electrical wiring installation and maintenance, electronic equipment maintenance and repair, home air conditioning service, computer services, computer graphic design, beauty services (salons), men's hairdressing, Khmer cuisine, food and beverage services, beverage business, and baking. Additionally, trainees receive monthly stipends. RPITSSR has announced the commencement of new course enrollments. Eligibility requires applicants to be 15 years or older and possess a Cambodian national identification card or birth certificate. Trainees who present an "Equity Card" (level 1 or 2) or a certificate identifying them as from a vulnerable family will receive additional stipends. This "TVET 1.5M" program is part of a national endeavor by the Cambodian government to provide vocational training to 1.5 million young people, aiming to enhance their skills and promote employment.
