Prabowo Reaffirms Government's Openness to Criticism, Warns Against Slander
Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto reiterated the importance of criticism in a democracy while warning against its distortion into slander or insults. He asserted the government's resolve to persevere against criticism as long as it acts in the people's interest and pursues the right direction.
President Prabowo Subianto has once again emphasized that the government is not anti-criticism. In fact, he considers criticism as an important part of democratic life. However, President Prabowo reminded that the criticism delivered should not turn into slander or insults that would damage the spirit of building the nation. This was conveyed by President Prabowo when giving a speech at the 28th PKB Harlah at the JCC, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, July 23. However, President Prabowo emphasized that the government would not waver in the face of various criticisms and attacks aimed at the government as long as it continued to work in the right direction and prioritize the interests of the people. President Prabowo also touched on various narratives which he considered as trying to weaken public confidence in the condition of Indonesia.
