Prabowo Mentions 'Same Heart' with PDIP, PKB Praises Him as 'True Democrat'

President Prabowo Subianto stated that the opposition party PDI Perjuangan (PDIP) actually shares the 'same heart' as his administration, during a speech at the 28th anniversary commemoration of the National Awakening Party (PKB). This remark was made at the PKB's anniversary event in Senayan, Jakarta. Responding to Prabowo's statement, PKB Member of the House of Representatives Daniel Johan praised the President, calling him a 'true democrat.' Johan views Prabowo's statement as a significant message that all political forces have a shared desire to advance the nation and ensure the welfare of its people. He emphasized that while differences in opinion are natural in a democracy, national interests should serve as the common ground for all political powers. Johan further stated that all parties, whether in government or opposition, bear the same responsibility to maintain national unity, safeguard democracy, and realize the nation's ideals, aligning with the mandate of the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution. This includes protecting all Indonesian people, promoting general welfare, educating the nation, and contributing to world order. He urged for the strengthening of the spirit of 'gotong royong' (mutual cooperation) and cross-party collaboration in nation-building, suggesting that constructive criticism should be seen as a 'vitamin' for improving various national issues. Johan highlighted the increasing complexity of future national challenges, particularly in food security, agriculture, fisheries, and public welfare, stressing the need for synergy among all elements of the nation. Ultimately, Johan asserted that politics should be a means to provide solutions for the people, not merely an arena for power competition, reiterating that everyone shares the same aspiration for the nation's progress. Earlier, during his address, Prabowo had commented on the political coalition dynamics under his government, noting that while competition and occasional separation are normal, eventual reunification is also expected. He specifically mentioned PDIP, suggesting that a deeper look would reveal their fundamental alignment with his administration's goals.
