Thailand's Exports Surge 7.33% to Over $48 Billion in H1 2026, Leveraging FTAs
Thailand's strategic use of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) has propelled its exports to $48.069 billion in the first half of 2026, marking a 7.33% increase year-on-year, demonstrating economic resilience and enhanced competitiveness.
Thailand's total export value for the first half of 2026 reached $48.069 billion, marking a significant 7.33% increase compared to the same period last year, as reported by the Ministry of Commerce. This impressive growth is largely a result of Thailand's strategic and effective utilization of its network of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs). The nation has actively pursued and established FTAs and Economic Partnership Agreements (EPAs) with a broad spectrum of global economic partners. These include its immediate neighbors within ASEAN, as well as major economies such as China, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Peru, India, and the European Union (EU). The core benefits derived from these agreements encompass a reduction or complete elimination of import duties, a lowering of non-tariff barriers that often impede trade, and a streamlining of customs and trade-related administrative procedures. Collectively, these measures significantly bolster the competitiveness of Thai-made goods in the highly competitive international marketplace. In an era where the global economic landscape remains characterized by considerable uncertainty and volatility, the robust performance of Thailand's exports highlights the inherent resilience of its economy. Furthermore, it underscores Thailand's integral role and established position within the complex global supply chains. Looking ahead, the Thai government has articulated a clear strategic direction to further enhance its export capabilities. This includes a commitment to actively pursuing the negotiation and finalization of new FTAs with potential partners, alongside efforts to deepen and expand the scope of existing agreements. The overarching objective is to achieve greater diversification of its export markets and to sustain an upward trajectory in export volumes.
